Bicycle street Delft - Rijswijk

Red asphalt

Good cycle paths for cyclists to reach their destinations quickly and safely are an important aspect of encouraging people to use their bicycles more often. This was the reason for local authorities in Rijswijk to redesign the Delftweg into a bicycle street. This road is part of the cycle route between Delft, Rijswijk, The Hague and Voorburg.

After the project had been worked out, Ballast Nedam Road Specialties took care of the implementation of this project. The start of this major project was on March 14, 2018 and the festive opening took place at the beginning of December 2018.

The biggest changes were the widening of the cycle path and the replacement of bricks by red asphalt.

An SMA-NL mixture,  11B 70/100 with 3% ColorFalt V Red and red crushed stone (Cloburn Red).
A total of 950mt of Red asphalt was produced. The layer thickness that has been applied is 30mm.
